Dave Tiberi Biography
Dave "TNT" Tiberi comes from a boxing family with six older brothers that were boxers. Being the youngest, he learned the tricks of the trade, from the time he spent in the gyms with his brothers and many great champions. With the guidance of well known trainer Carmen Graziano, Dave amassed over 60 wins and 2 Golden Gloves championships, culminating in national ranking as an amateur. His professional career was even more exciting, with nationally televised fights on major cards in Atlantic City casinos, Caesar's Palace Las Vegas and the Convention Center in Philadelphia. He fought in his first title bout winning the IBC Supermiddleweight Championship, with a fourth round knock out over veteran Eddie Hall. Next, he signed on to fight for the IBF Middleweight Championship, on ABC's Wide World of Sports, against the reigning champion James Toney. Although Tiberi entered the ring as a serious underdog and subsequently dominated the fight, the 12 round decision was awarded to James Toney. This decision sparked a national outcry. Donald Trump shut his casinos down to boxing for two months and US Senator Bill Roth launched a federal investigation into the details surrounding the fight, uncovering many problems within the boxing community. The controversy led to the creation of a national boxing bill named the "Ali Bill".
